When people want to lose weight the most often things I hear are, “I’m going to eat more fruits and vegetables and less junk food.” Well half of this is right there is something also wrong with this as well.
The absolute best way to lose weight is to cut carbs, which is sugar. Sugar is found in grain products, anything with sugar in it, and fruit. Yes fruit has the sugar fructose in it. Anything that ends in –ose is a sugar. So fructose, glucose, lactose, dextrose are all sugars. Even though the fructose in fruit is a natural sugar it is a sugar non the less and should be watched when trying to lose weight.
I have seen people sabotage their diets by eating too much fruit. They will do the diet perfectly except they will eat more fruit than they should and this will stop or greatly hamper weight loss.
They guidelines I use with my weight loss clients is they are only allowed one serving of fruits per day and they must come from low glycemic sources such as berries. Also, since fructose interferes with fat loss they are not allowed to eat the fruit before workouts. Fruit juices of any kind are to be avoided when trying to lose weight as they have almost the same amount of sugar as soft drinks without the fiber of eating the fruit.
The great thing about berries is that not only are they low glycemic they are also packed with antioxidants that are known to contribute to better health.
So if you are trying to lose weight I highly recommend following my approach. Eat more green vegetables which are allowed in unlimited amounts and also make sure to meet your protein requirement and good fat intake. It is not complicated once you get the hang of it.
