Almost any food has a low carb option nowadays.
Food manufacturers have jumped on the low carb craze and have made virtually every bad food using low carb ingredients, so that now it is low carb.
Even in the keto groups you see all these wild recipes of delicious foods that have been made low carb.
Many people think that as long as it is low carb they can eat whatever they want and as much as they want.
This is not the case as you all know you have to be in a calorie deficit no matter what you eat.
More times than not the low carb option has even more calories than the high carb option thus making it even worse for weight loss.
THE GOAL OF EATING LOW CARB IS TO NOT TRY TO “TRICK THE SYSTEM” BUT TO EAT WHOLE, HEALTHY LEAN PROTEIN SOURCES, PRODUCE, AND SOME HEALTHY FATS.
Stuff like this drives me up the wall:
The other day I was looking in my FB weight loss group and someone posted low carb carrot cake (yes, ofc it caught my eye lol). Yes it looked delish.
The person posted says, “this carrot cake is delicious with only 5g of net carbs! Who wants the recipe?”
Of course the post blew up with all these likes and comments:
- This is awesome!
- Me!
- Wow!!!
- I’m making this tonight!
- I can’t wait to try this!
- This is a game changer! (really how? lol)
- Then of course all the salivating smiley faces emoticon. (Don’t even get me started with these, drives me cray.)
So now all these overweight people are going to make this low carb carrot cake and think that they are some how cheating the system and can eat as much as they want and still lose weight, cuz you know, it’s low carb.
If you start eatings all of these things you are not going to lose any weight and probably gain.
I love low carb even though it gets a ton of hate lately (usually by people who have never been overweight or have food issues but this is an email for another time.)
Yes do low carb.
Buy lean protein sources, anything that runs, flies or swims, eggs, some cottage cheese and greek yogurt along with some produce and thats it.
That is the healthy and best way for low carb to work and in my opinion the only way.
