I have said many times that one of the best predictors of weight loss success is the ability of a person to stick to their diet on the weekends.
My clients who lose weight the quickest are able to keep it tight on the weekend while the people who stay the same or lose very slowly are very erratic when it comes to weekend dieting.
Think about it like this: If a person diets through the weekend with one cheat meal, that one meal will make very little difference in the overall calorie intake for the week, no matter how bad that meal may be. It will have very little effect on their weight loss.
However some people will totally blow it on weekends and this usually starts Friday night and will last until Sunday night.
Even though they were good from Monday to Friday night, that means they really only dieted for 4 days out of 7.
You cannot expect to get great weight loss results dieting 4 out of 7 days, it just doesn’t work.
Once you reach your goal and are just trying to maintain then yes, you could look at something like this.
However that doesn’t mean the 3 days on the weekend can be a free for all or you will still end up gaining weight, even if your diet was good throughout the week.
